Plain-language summary

We make family-friendly short stories. We collect only what we need to sell and deliver episodes, and to email you if you say yes to marketing. We never collect data on anyone under 13. We do not sell your personal information. Stripe handles cards — we never store card numbers. You can ask us to delete your data; we aim to complete deletion within 30 days (automated where we can).

1. Who we are

Depending on where you purchase:

  • United States (live at launch): Njere L.L.C. (Mercury primary; Stripe US under Njere when used for card checkout). No US-via-Stripe-CA fallback unless Alex revives it.
  • Canada / MichaelT Enablement Consulting Inc.: future path only — CAD checkout is not offered until that rail is enabled.

2. What we collect (limited collection)

We collect only:

We do not collect:

  • Data on anyone under 13 (COPPA)
  • Payment card numbers (Stripe processes payments)
  • Precise location, contacts, photos from your device, or browsing profiles for ads

Checkout is for adults purchasing on behalf of their family. There are no purchase prompts inside kids-aimed videos.


3. How we use your information (purpose & consent)

We use your data to:

  • Process orders and give you access to paid episodes / memberships / gifts
  • Send transactional email (receipts, access links, membership changes)
  • Send marketing email only if your marketing consent flag is on
  • Handle refunds and support
  • Meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations
  • Keep the service secure

Consent: Buying means we may use your data for that transaction and related support. Marketing is separate opt-in. You can withdraw marketing consent anytime by emailing us or using unsubscribe links.


4. PIPEDA principles (Canada / BC)

We reflect Canadian PIPEDA / BC privacy expectations in plain terms:

  1. Accountability — Alex / the Studio is responsible for personal information we hold.
  2. Identifying purposes — We tell you why we collect (see above).
  3. Consent — Transactional use is tied to purchase; marketing needs opt-in.
  4. Limiting collection — Only email, first name, country, purchase history, marketing flag.
  5. Limiting use, disclosure & retention — Used for stated purposes; kept only as needed (see Retention).
  6. Accuracy — We’ll correct your details when you ask.
  7. Safeguards — Reasonable technical and organizational measures; Stripe for payments.
  8. Openness — This policy explains our practices.
  9. Individual access — You can ask what we hold about you.
  10. Challenging compliance — Contact alex@michaeltenable.com; escalate to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or BC OIPC if needed.

5. CCPA / CPRA consumer rights (California & similar US laws)

If you are a California resident (or other US state with similar rights), you may:

We do not sell personal information. We do not use third-party ad trackers.

To exercise rights: email alex@michaeltenable.com with “Privacy request” in the subject. We may need to verify your email matches our records.


6. Children’s privacy (COPPA)

HearthReel content is family-safe (G / TV-G), but we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Purchases are by adults for their family. If you believe we have data from a child under 13, email us immediately and we will delete it.


7. Sharing & processors

We share data only with service providers who help us operate:

  • Stripe — payments (they process card data; we don’t store cards)
  • Email / hosting / analytics — privacy-friendly tools as needed to run the site

We do not sell lists. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.


8. Cookies & analytics

See our Cookie Notice. Short version: essential cookies for auth/checkout; optional privacy-friendly analytics; no third-party ad trackers; no sale of cookie data.


9. Retention & deletion

  • Purchase and account records: kept as needed for access, support, tax, and legal retention.
  • Marketing flag: until you opt out or ask us to delete.
  • Delete on request: we aim to complete deletion within 30 days (automated where possible). Some records may remain where law requires (e.g. tax invoices), minimized and locked down.

10. International transfers

If you buy from MichaelT Enablement Consulting Inc., data is primarily processed in Canada. US purchases with Njere L.L.C. may be processed in the United States. Processors (e.g. Stripe) may process data in multiple countries under their own safeguards.


11. Security

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to a small family-entertainment business. No method of transmission is 100% secure. Never send card numbers to our email — use checkout only.


12. Changes

We’ll post updates here with a new effective date. Material changes will be highlighted where practical.
